Mushrooms as Medicine?
Mushrooms have been used in Eastern medicine for centuries, treating everything from asthma to gout. The food is now being marketed in the West as part of a medicinal regimen to prevent cancer, and/or stimulate higher brain function. While there are relatively few trials that have been conducted in humans to support these claims, there are studies that have confirmed the food’s anti-tumor properties.

Dr. Shah is a senior staff physiatrist and clinical investigator in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Research Center. Dr. Shah will deliver three lectures focused on myofascial and spinal pain, including clinical assessments, how to use ultrasound imaging, and various treatment strategies.

Dr. Vora is a Yale and Columbia educated board-certified holistic psychiatrist, acupuncturist, and yoga teacher. Dr. Vora will discuss the relationship between pain and inflammation, and the ways to access the root of the pain and re-program the nervous system: a truly fresh look at potential antidotes and solutions to the opioid epidemic.
